Conducting Performance Appraisals

Performance appraisals are a tool managers can use to discuss and review an employee’s performance with them.  They are normally tied to how the employee’s performance is contributing to the businesses goals and objectives.  Therefore, performance conversations are crucial to the good functioning of any business, with appraisals being one part of a rounded approach.

Performance appraisals are typically carried out once a year with a mini review at the half way point.  They should sit alongside other feedback mechanisms such as team meetings, day to day directions and monthly supervisions.

Below is a guide on appraisals for those carrying them out and for those being appraised.
